Daniel Lamb was born on May 29th, 1963[15] and lived in San Fierro, San Andreas until he graduated from University of San Fierro in 1985 with a degree in biochemistry. A year later, he found work as lab technician for Green and Becker Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and worked there for three years. In 1989, he became a research associate for McKenzie Druchner Inc. until he begun working for The Project, also known as The Pickman Project. [16]
Daniel is shown to be a very skilled fighter and grappler; it is most likely that Danny took interest in fighting and wrestling during his childhood or young adult years due to harsh social environments, or to simply have the ability to defend himself in physical battle.
At some point before 2001, Daniel became one of the top scientists for a organization called "The Project" and invented a drug called Cortexa, and is a employee of the "Pickman Project", a government-sponsored weapons program involving brainwashing and mind control techniques to create artificial personalities implanted into the human brain. Daniel eventually got married and had two kids, a girl and a boy, but at some point went into great debt and volunteered for an experiment, which his wife disapproved of.
With the Project's funds under threat, Daniel volunteered himself to test the "Pickman Bridge", hoping that the resulting payoff would allow him to clear his family's debts and provide a financially secure future. However, the Bridge malfunctioned soon after it was implanted, causing Daniel to suffer from dissociative identity disorder, resulting in him being able to directly communicate with the implanted personality, who he perceives as a real person, Leo Kasper, who would be taking over Daniel's mind later on due to the mistake the Project made during the development.
Events of Manhunt 2[]
Circa 2001[]
In 2001, in the same night of the Project's failed Pickman Bridge experiment, Daniel (being controlled by Leo) wanted the Pickman Bridge removed so that he can fully control Daniel. He first threatens Daniel's close friend Michael Grant to do so. Daniel (being controlled by Leo) kills Michael and many of the Project Militia who arrived to kill Daniel because Leo is out of control.
Leo decides to get revenge, so he convinces Daniel to kill Stanley Grex, the main source of funding for the Pickman Project research. Leo locates Grex at the Maibatsu Plaza around 9:32pm of that night [17] with a Sniper Rifle and later destroy their records so they can disappear. Leo then takes control and makes Daniel kill his own wife and is then locked away in Dixmor Hospital for the Criminally Insane.
Circa 2007[]
Six years after the incident, a severe thunderstorm causes the Dixmor Hospital security system at the asylum to momentarily go offline, opening the cell doors throughout the facility, resulting in the populace wandering freely through the corridors. Daniel is disoriented and partly amnesiac, unable to remember how or why he came to Dixmor. Under Leo's guidance, they escape the facility and make their way to the ruins of Daniel's old home. Inside, Daniel recovers medication which Leo says he left there for himself in the event of him forgetting the past. The medication helps to clear his head somewhat, and he begins to remember fragments of his former life. He and Leo then set out to unravel the secrets of Daniel's past, all the while pursued by bounty hunters and agents of the Project.
Eventually, Daniel learns that he was once a top scientist in the employ of the Pickman Project. The Project's goal was to create the perfect assassin; to accomplish this, they developed the "Pickman Bridge", a brain implant containing the personality and skills of a trained assassin which could be activated on command. In theory, the two personalities could co-exist in the same mind, completely unaware of one another. The idea was that the assassin could be remotely triggered, carry out his mission, and then revert to the original persona, who would have no memory of what he had just done, hence would be immune to interrogation.
As Daniel puts the clues together and begins to remember more of his past, he and Leo set out to find Dr. Whyte, a Project researcher and one of Daniel's co-workers. However, before they can get to her, they are ambushed and sedated. Daniel wakes up in a room with Whyte, who reveals the truth to him. Whyte explains that Leo is dangerously unstable, and has been working against Daniel from the very beginning.
Whyte reveals that, after the implant malfunctioned, Leo's personality asserted itself, suppressing Daniel's own, and he went on a rampage across the city, murdering police officers and members of the Project, destroying the Project's records of Daniel and himself, and finally making his way to Daniel's household and killing his wife. His goal was to weaken Daniel's grip on reality to the point where Leo could take complete control of his mind. However, the Project caught Daniel/Leo after the murder, erased his memory, torched his house, and had him committed to Dixmor, where they had been working to study the effects of the implant and repair the damage, without success. Upon learning the truth, Daniel determines that he must destroy Leo once and for all. He enters a deep hypnotic state and faces off against Leo within the confines of his own mind. He is finally able to let go of the guilt he feels over his wife's death, allowing him to "kill" Leo and assert control.
Having done so, Daniel awakens on a deserted road with his memory erased once more. He is holding an envelope informing him that his name is "David Joiner", providing him with a new home address at 526 Hope Street, Apartment B, and wishing him luck. Daniel briefly hesitates before walking away.

Dr. Whyte:
That's okay, Danny. As one of America's leaders and neuroscientists you had to remember a lot. It's okay to get a little confused.
Daniel sighs.
Daniel:
I, uh... I—I think I have extreme anterograde amnesia. With bursts of dissociative fugue states due to trauma probably memory distrust.
Dr. Whyte:
That's one way to put it, yes. Impressive, Danny.

Fourth tape plays.
Dr. Whyte:

Dr. Whyte:
Danny, it takes a week for your mind to recover from this drug. Time is precious. Now, what do you remember about Michael's death?
Daniel:

Dr. Whyte:
Danny, you were the top scientist to the Project. Why would they kill you?
Flashback to Domestic Disturbance.
Daniel:
So you're telling me they wouldn't? Leo was sure of it.
Sixth tape plays.
Dr. Whyte:
Was Leo responsible for the murderous rampage across the city that night?
My whole... life was dedicated to the Project. I thought I was appreciated. I thought I was doing the right thing but it all funnels down to defense stuff, weapons, defending America from GOD KNOWS FUCKING WHAT!! I was creating killing machines, my family deteriorated before my very eyes!
Dr. Whyte:
Danny, please take a deep breath.
Daniel:
Or what?! I—fucking—God! I'm sorry... I just want to see my family again. Please...
Eighth tape plays.
Dr. Whyte:
I'm afraid some memories the drug cannot bring back.
Daniel:
What do you mean? What am I forgetting? Please, I want to know, tell me! Please Linzie, I beg you. (stutters) No... Oh my God, no. I'm forgetting your name. Please! Inject me with more Cortexa. I don't remember, please!
Dr. Whyte:
We will, Danny, we will. Next week, I'm sorry.
Daniel:
No, NOW!! Just— I'm so sick forgetting...
Ninth tape plays.
Dr. Whyte:
We will help you, Daniel. I will help you, no matter what.
Daniel:
Oh, help me with what? Where am I?
Dr. Whyte:
You're in a safe place, Daniel. A place where we can help you.
Below is a comprehensive list of crimes and felonies that Daniel Lamb, whether he's in control or not, is capable of committing throughout the episodes of Manhunt 2.
All episodes[]
Defilement of corpses, ranging from destruction of skulls, severing heads, beating/kicking corpses, etc.
Done under the control of Leo. He was betrayed by Michael when he was led into the island for an ambush that should've ended in both persons being killed by the Project militia. Michael was killed in revenge and for his boat's keys, allowing him to escape the island.
With Leo's guidance, the assassination was meant to cripple the Project's operations by robbing them of their remaining source of funding, its ulterior motive being revenge and spite against the Project who did wrong to Leo during their program to condition him as a government assassin, which harmed his psyche.
Done under the control of Leo. Although Leo would not disclose the reason to anyone, it's revealed in both endings that he murdered her to cause guilt in Daniel, using it as leverage in gaining control of his mind.[22][23]
Done under the control of Leo. Although Leo needed him alive to get him to remove the Pickman Bridge, Pickman adamantly refused before reciting the hypnotic phrase to subdue him, which disoriented and agonized Daniel. In response, he quickly grabbed a scalpel and stabbed his chest thrice, which was futile as he heard the full phrase and passed out.

Look at me like that one more time and I will rip your face off, bitch.
