Send him to hell! Go on!
―Starkweather ordering the remaining Cerberus to kill Cash one last time

Deliverance is a mission in the Manhunt series featured as the final scene in Manhunt.

Plot Summary[]

Cash manages to take the elevator up to Starkweather's floor, but he is ambushed by Piggsy. He escapes the elevator and finds himself in the mansion's derelict upper rooms, the lair of Piggsy. Two leading stars face off in a deadly game of cat and mouse before the victor can reach Starkweather who is guarded by the last Cerberus squad in his office.

Scene[]

Introduction[]

As James Earl Cash rides the elevator on his continued pursuit of Lionel Starkweather, a squealing madman cuts through the doors with a Chainsaw. Cash gets away through the elevator escape hatch, accidentally leaving his weapons behind.

Kill Piggsy[]

The Derelict Rooms[]

Cash starts out in front of the elevator that he took. He immediately sees that the area he's in is a floor with hallways and rooms that are decrepit. Depending on the three paths he continues forward to (the way to the Glass Shard at the end of a hallway in front of him, the room to the left, and the hallway to the right leading to a bedroom), he will be ambushed by Piggsy who has his Chainsaw revved up. Terrified and utterly defenseless, Cash bolts away from Piggsy who is just as fast as he is before evading him in the shadows or behind cover.

The battle with Piggsy requires the player to find two Glass Shards and one Wooden Spike. These are the only weapons found in the area that can harm Piggsy. He is invulnerable to your Fists, so don't bother. However, he can still be staggered with your punches, allowing the player to buy some time. A shard can be found at the end of a hallway with a broken and sealed window where Piggsy may ambush you from and another is found in a bedroom that's connected to the right hallway where Piggsy will also ambush you from. The spike is found in a padded room that can be entered through a crack in the wall, accessible through the same right hallway.

Once Cash finds one of these weapons, he can use them on Piggsy for a Gruesome execution in which he'll stab him in the back with them. However, the hit is hardly lethal but painful for Piggsy who swings his arm behind him to knock down Cash, who eventually recovers from the hit while Piggsy runs away. The player must use all three weapons to drain Piggsy's health to a quarter of it, causing Piggsy to escape to the next area in a cutscene by sawing the attic door's lock off, opening the next area to the player.

With the derelict rooms free of the threat posed by a fellow lunatic, Cash goes to the room next to the window at the end of the hallway to see that the attic door has been unlocked, going up a short flight of stairs to open the door.

The Attic[]

The attic is just as eerie and dilapidated as the rooms before. Just beyond the door is a short hallway where a ramp made by a collapsed ceiling can be found. There is a Brick at the right corner of this hallway if the player wants to use it.

Once Cash goes up the ramp, he will find himself at the attic itself. Piggsy can be found at the other side of the attic, cringing from the pain from the splinters and glass shards that he sustained earlier. This is his "home" as Starkweather's former leading star, despite being imprisoned here. His unfinished meals can be found here in the form of the corpses of Cerberus agents. That aside, another Brick on a Cerberus agent's corpse and a bottle of Painkillers behind a pillar can be found here.

Cash has to proceed through the scene by alerting Piggsy to him. He will be enraged at you, giving you no choice but to run from him down to the ramp leading to the stair tower at the other end of the attic. After all, there are no weapons here that can kill Piggsy.

Stair Tower[]

The stair tower returns from Key Personnel. Like before, the chain link fence blocks entry to the lower level, leaving you with nowhere to go but upstairs. With an angry Piggsy on his tail, Cash is cornered at the top floor where a locked door and a bottle of Painkillers near a grating can be found, but he is delivered from imminent death when Piggsy walks on the grating, suddenly realizing that it will collapse under his weight before running back to the attic.

With hope of making it out alive even without a weapon, Cash now has to lure Piggsy back to the same grating to finish him off. He follows after Piggsy and finds him in the attic again. Cash alerts himself to Piggsy and bolts to the top floor as Piggsy chases him again, having forgotten that he shouldn't be going there. In a cutscene triggered by baiting Piggsy to the grating, he walks on it once again, causing it to fall off to the basement floor below. However, Piggsy holds on to the ledge, dropping his Chainsaw in the process which is caught by Cash with his foot.

Cash walks up to Piggsy with his own chainsaw before sawing his hands off, releasing him to fall to his death.

Finale[]

Versus Cerberus[]

With a proper weapon now at his disposal, Cash turns on his Chainsaw and saws through the locked door. Once Cash does this, however, a cutscene will play where Starkweather orders the last Cerberus team to kill Cash for good. Five Cerberus quickly move in and stack up on the door. One of them gives the signal to another who unlocks the door. Cash hears it from the other side and quickly runs down the stairs as the Cerberus move in too late.

Cash takes on Piggsy's mantle by prowling the attic and the derelict rooms as his kill-zone. The door to Starkweather's office is locked until the player kills all the Cerberus. Whether the player does this by stealthily killing them from the shadows with executions, loudly sawing them down like a maniac, stealing an Assault Rifle by killing a Cerberus before shooting the rest of them, or some other unorthodox method, Cash clears the area of threats, allowing him to face Starkweather by himself.

Starkweather's Office[]

With no hunters left to interrupt him, Cash saws down the door to Starkweather's office. This is the only way to open the door, nothing else can unlock it. Regardless, a cutscene will play afterwards where Starkweather is on his computer before he is startled by the sound of a Chainsaw. Cash kicks down the door with his Chainsaw revved up, terrifying Starkweather who gets out of his seat and loses his balance out of fear. Cash revs the Chainsaw in the air à la Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre before the cutscene ends for the player to kill Starkweather.

Starkweather may or may not be armed with a Revolver Six Shooter that holds up to three shots before he runs out. To arm himself, he will run behind a wall before reappearing with said gun. If he isn't armed, he will simply run from the player without retaliating. If he is armed, he will not be intimidated (as all gun-wielding hunters do) and actively hunt down Cash with his gun if he is hiding in the shadows behind the walls of the room. However, if he runs out of ammo, he will become unarmed once again and run from Cash.

The player can kill Starkweather by mowing him down with the Chainsaw until his health is drained. This triggers a cutscene where Cash slices his belly open, spilling his guts as he tries to hold them back on his knees. Starkweather then tries to beg for mercy one last time by saying "Cash, I made you!" which he responds to by running his skull through with the Chainsaw. He then plants his Chainsaw on his corpse, standing triumphantly but quietly over his finest work in his ending career as a snuff film actor, as well as having avenged everything he has lost to the Director.

Outro[]

Later, the Journalist is covering a story in Carcer City News' studio about the death of Lionel Starkweather. She reports that he was found dead in his estate along with his bodyguards. She adds that police investigators have concluded from the current evidence that the deaths were a vendetta with an unknown perpetrator and have also found proof of a snuff film ring being run from the estate. Lastly, she reports that this ilicit operation is linked to CCPD police chief Gary Schaffer, whose lawyer states that he has pleaded not guilty of the accusations against him.
