- “You're killing to entertain, so take your time and play to the camera!”
Doing Time is the 12th Scene in Manhunt.
Plot Summary[]
Cash falls through the hole in the Guard Room as he descends further into the maw of insanity. Trapped inside the prison's cell blocks, he's instructed to do brutal kills with a Hammer and a Metal Bat before plowing through the rest of the Smileys.
Scene[]
Introduction[]
Cash is walking from the hole he had just fallen thru from the previous scene. The Director gives Cash the usual script for the next scene of his film: Cash see hunter, Cash kill hunter. However, he adds that he must take his time with killing as these murders are being recorded for some entertaining material.
Cell Blocks[]
The player must get the Hammer found in between the gates connecting H and J cell blocks. Once they do so, they must perform a Violent and Gruesome execution with it.
Once Cash picks up the provided Hammer, three Smileys take act in the scene from the hole Cash dropped from, looking for Cash. The shadows in the cells act as hiding places and respite whence he can execute the Smileys with all the time he needs. Should Cash kill the Smileys without doing the required Violent and Gruesome executions, another batch of Smileys will fall from the hole to replace them. The supply of Smileys is infinite, so Cash can't proceed through the scene until he does these executions with the Hammer and Bat.
With the objective's requirements satisfied, a Big Smiley holding a Baseball Bat drops into the scene and is targeted to be killed for his bat.
After killing the Smiley for his bat, Cash is tasked with performing a Violent and a Gruesome execution with this weapon. Like before, three Smileys enter the cell blocks off-screen to help him fulfill this objective. After Cash kills these Smileys, the Director expresses his astonishment with how effortless his work was before allowing him to go upstairs to the upper cell blocks by opening the door at the end of cell block K, also adding that he has a surprise for him.
The player reaches the staircase room beyond cell block K where a Save Point can be activated. Two Smileys, including Fug who declares that he will end this once and for all, goes downstairs from the second floor to look for Cash. The Director gives him his next instructions to get up to the walkway and head for the shower block. Cash can deal with the pair of crazies by any means possible before taking the gun from one of these Smileys to prepare himself for the firefight up ahead.
Top Cell Block[]
The top cell block is a grinder with bullets for teeth. Cash gets in anyways and guns down the Smileys like grim death while using the flipped beds as cover and the shadowy cell blocks as respite like before. If he presented the head of the targeted Smiley in the previous scene, he may go to the room at the back to find a fully loaded Shotgun. If he picks it up, the Director will present it to him as a reward for “being such a good head collector” which can be further loaded with packs of Shotgun Shells (8) found in the cells or other shotguns dropped by hunters.
By using all the resources and opportunities in this hell to his advantage, Cash clears through the Smileys and safely walks into the shower block as the Director cheers his mass murdering. He then compliments his work and assures him that there's still more fun to for him to have in Wonderland before letting out a sinister laugh.

Doing Time
DESCRIPTION: Cash produces the body of the dress-wearing guard, then Starkweather orders him to drop his weapons in the guard room before jumping through the large hole in the floor that takes him to the abandoned lock-up below.
Objectives[]
- FIND THE HAMMER
Your first objective is to find the Hammer somewhere in the cellblock. You begin in cellblock G. Cut through the nearby cell and find the Brick, then exit into the main hallway and turn left. There are no hunters in the area yet, so take some time to get familiar with your surroundings. Notice that most of the cells are connected by holes in the walls and there are long hallways behind them. A few cells contain Painkillers and lure items are plentiful.
Run to the end of cellblock H through the gate in the corner to find the Hammer. As you approach this item, a short cinematic suggests using it to perform a Violent and a Gruesome execution. Pick up the Hammer and another cinematic reveals three SMILEYS entering the cellblock through the room where you started.
- PERFORM A VIOLENT AND GRUESOME EXECUTION
The L-shaped room just beyond the Hammer makes a great kill zone, or a place to run and hide when being chased. There are plenty of large shadows inside, and rounding the blind corner in there allows you to slip into the shadows without being seen.
Run back toward cellblock H and duck into a dark cell. Bang on the wall with a Brick to attract the hunters. Remain in the shadows until the three SMILEYS become idle and begin to separate. Follow the SMILEY that walks off alone. Quietly sneak up behind him and hold the attack button with the Hammer selected until the target arrows turn yellow or red. If you have the time to perform the Gruesome execution first, it makes the next objective much easier to perform.
Take to the shadows inside a cell near the fallen SMILEY, then hit the walls to attract the remaining hunters. When they split up again, follow a solitary thug who strays from the pack, or tail the last hunter in line as they walk away in formation. Perform the Violent or Gruesome execution (whichever one remains; check the Pause menu for an update).
- DEFEAT THE BAT-WIELDING HUNTER
Once you have successfully performed both Gruesome and Violent executions with the Hammer, a cinematic begins. Starkweather asks you to defeat the new hunter holding the Metal Bat.
Hide inside a dark cell and attract the remaining hunters. Watch the dude with the Metal Bat very carefully. Seize your first opportunity to execute him, even if it means being spotted after the execution; you car always dash around a corner, and hide in the shadows. The L-shaped room in cellblock H is a great place to retreat.
- VIOLENT & GRUESOME METAL BAT EXECUTIONS
Once you have the Metal Bat, two new objectives are presented: Perform a Violent and a Gruesome execution with the Metal Bat. Use the exact same tactics you used to perform these executions on the hunters with the Hammer. Move quickly for the time bonus.
When you complete both tasks, Starkweather asks you to go to the end of cellblock K. The next Save Point is just beyond the newly opened gate. Run through it, then dash into the room to the right before all hell breaks loose!
- GET TO THE SHOWER BLOCK
Two SMILEYS enter the room. One of them runs through the cellblocks while another with a Revolver stands guard near the bottom of the stairs. The best place to be is in the shadows of the small room to the right. If you can't get there undetected, then slip left into the shadow cast by the stairs.
When the second hunter leaves the room, sneak out of the shadows and use the Metal Bat to clobber the armed SMILEY. Swap your Hammer for his Revolver, then enter the small room with the bottle of Painkillers and the large grate-covered window.
If you haven't already attracted a hunter to the stairs, do so from inside the room. Hug the wall, then shoot through the grated window. Head up the stairs and take the Revolver from the fallen hunter.
- SECOND FLOOR CELLBLOCK SHOOTOUT
No one on the second floor can be lured from behind his post. Run behind the first overturned bed on the right side of the cellblock pathway, then duck, popup, shoot the hunter behind it, and duck again. If you need health, head for the overturned bed that the hunter was behind. The Painkillers are in the cell to the right of this bed. Use the bed as cover to duck, pop-up, and shoot the next few hunters on the left pathway. Continue this assault until you've defeated them all.
Grab the dropped Revolver from behind the overturned bed, then hide behind the next one. Two SMILEYS enter the area. One holds a post behind another overturned bed on the left pathway, while the other remains on the right path. Shoot them from cover and take their Revolvers. There are two hunters at the end of the cellblock. Cautiously pick them off.
Head toward the last cell on the left pathway and strafe against the wall. Then whip around the corner and blast the hunter in the head.
Find the Painkillers in the first cell on the left side of the new hall. Duck behind one of the overturned beds and finish off the remaining two armed hunters, using duck-and-shoot tactics.
The first guard around the corner has a Sawed Off Shotgun, but the last two hunters have Shotguns, which hold eight rounds in the chamber. Head to the end of the cellblock, take the stairs down to the first floor, and enter the Shower Block door to complete the mission.

Trivia[]
- “Doing Time” means serving one's prison sentence or spending time serving at the army, the former applying to this scene which takes place in several cell blocks. It also fits with the goal of performing Violent and Gruesome executions with a Hammer and a Metal Bat, which requires spending more time locking on to hunters to wait for the arrows to become yellow or red. As the Director himself puts it: “You're killing to entertain, so take your time and play to the camera!”
