The Flashlight[1] was an item scrapped from Manhunt, which then returned as a blue class weapon in Manhunt 2.

Description[]

A generic Maglite styled flashlight, with a black and yellow color scheme.

In the hands of the average man, it can help with alot of things, such as searching through dark places, walking through the night, tracking down dangerous individuals.

However, in the hands of dangerous individuals, they inflict gruesome destruction. Thanks to their weight and quality, they often cause devastating damage, with individuals like Danny and Leo often bludgeoning their enemies to death, causing their heads to cave in from the violent barrage of blunt trauma.

Manhunt[]

During the early development of Manhunt, the Flashlight was originally an item that would've served as a tool to help the player, rather than as a weapon. The PS2 version of Manhunt contains .TXT files requesting the Flashlight, along with several other nonexistent items.

A HUD icon is leftover in the Global files of the Prototype Version 0.69, and it is also requested in the entity file.

The model and texture was later recycled for Manhunt 2.

Gruesome
From behind, the player swings the flashlight down on the target's occiput, forcing them to look at their future murderer. The player bars the target's arm from interrupting him with his free hand and bludgeons their face with the flashlight five times until they fall to the ground. The player then delivers the last two blows to their skull, the final one destroying it. Jump
Shares animation with the nightstick. The player jumps from an elevated position and strikes the target's occiput as they fall, forcing them to their knees. The player then swings the flashlight across their occiput twice, destroying their head. The skull exploding is the only difference it has from the nightstick's jump execution. Trivia[]

  • During the development of Manhunt, the Flashlight was intended to be an item, rather than a weapon. The unused animation/mechanic for turning the flashlight on in Manhunt 2 seems to have followed this concept.
  • On the PSP, PS2 and Wii versions, the Pliers will use the same animations as the Flashlight
