Gore King is the internal name of an unique out-of-bounds corpse appearing as a leftover in Manhunt.

Description[]

It is a static variant of an existing hanging corpse used in Divided They Fall, placed out-of-bounds during the bonus scene Hard as Nails, which is set entirely at the Carcer City Library. The corpse is located in the corner of an empty room in the adjacent building.

Unlike the original hanging corpses (which are also reused inside the library during this scene), this variant is static and cannot be moved by the player. It is depicted as a pile of meat, with the dead character's body placed on top of it, and its severed head and arm visible right next to it. This hidden corpse is unique to Hard as Nails and cannot be found in other scenes taking place at the vicinity of the library, or any other location throughout the story.

During Road to Ruin, the spot for the corpse is marked with a pile of meat, heavily suggesting the hidden corpse is simply a leftover from Road to Ruin's original level design.

Origin[]

The hanging corpses in which the hidden corpse is based on, is a remodeled version of Piggsy's body model with exposed guts. The decaying pig skin around his neck and his white bandages are removed from the model, to depict the dead body of a random, unidentified overweight person, hence why Piggsy's head is not repurposed. Leftovers of Piggsy's original model can still be spotted in the model, in his fingernails.

The new texture is internally named gore_*, while Piggsy's texture is internally named pig_*. The face texture uses a goreking_* prefix.

For the head model, Rockstar North reused the Placeholder Ped's head with a few changes in the face structure, and applied a blood layer on his lower face to depict a severed head.

Trivia[]

  • Due to the reused assets from Piggsy's model and the "secrecy" of its location, the leftover corpse model is widely erroneously referred to as a "hidden face reveal of Piggsy", despite the lore inconsistency regarding the corpse's location and the fact that Piggsy is depicted as a bald person, visible through the hole on the pig head layer.
