The Head[1][2] is a yellow class weapon available in Manhunt and Manhunt 2.

Description[]

Manhunt[]

A Head can only be obtained by performing certain brutal actions on hunters that will decapitate them. This includes the following weapons and their level of executions:

  • The Wire's Gruesome execution
  • All execution levels of the Machete and Meat Cleaver
  • Swinging the Chainsaw around a corner while standing and not crouching or doing its Hasty execution

Only by fulfilling any of these conditions can their head be taken as a throwable item great for lures and stunning hunters. Nothing more, nothing less.

As a throwable item, the player can charge up its throwing distance via holding down the Fire button. Doing this will cause the player to stretch his arm backwards to indicate how hard and how far he's going to toss it. Regardless of how long it was charged, its impact will create a pulse of sound with a medium area of effect that is equivalent to the sound produced by running, making it the least noisy lure in game. If it ricochets, each additional impact will create a sound wave of the same size on the next surface it lands on. For instance, if a Head bounces off a wall, it can make two sound waves, one when it first hit the wall and one when it falls to the floor.

Since it's obviously a part of the human body, the Head counts as the remains of a hunter. If a hunter sees a head, they will become alerted, calling any nearby hunters if there are any, and run towards the head to inspect it before patrolling the area until they are no longer alert.

As a weapon, the Head can be thrown at enemies to deal minor damage and stun them for approximately 3 seconds. If a hunter is stunned in this way in an idle state, they are vulnerable to being locked on to and executed. But, if an alerted hunter is stunned like this, they cannot be executed. Instead, the player will be unable to lock on to them, and they will assume a combat stance as if they were still spotted. The player can only execute them in the brief interval after they recover from the stun, plus it is only possible to execute them from a certain distance between the hunter and player. Otherwise, there is no opportunity for an execution. The stun can be refreshed, meaning that the player can stunlock a hunter by repeatedly throwing the head at them until they are killed.

Manhunt 2[]

Just like the first game, heads can be obtained through decapitating hunters in a variety of gruesome methods, but there are more ways to get heads in this game.

The Head is used to access certain doors in specific episodes: Sexual Deviants and Origins. The former mission requires the head of a Perv to be used on the door beyond the club's stage that leads to the underground dungeon. Upon acquiring a Head and using it on that door, Danny will knock on this door and hide himself from the door slot while presenting the Head to the Perv behind it, who will mistake it for an alive Perv and grant him entry. The latter mission requires the head of either of the two Project staff in the veterinary lab to access the door locked by an ocular scanner. During these parts of the episode, any form of head destruction is disabled due to the requirement of a head to progress, from executions to hitting corpses' heads with certain weapons.

Trivia[]

  • If the player dies while carrying a head and restarts from a checkpoint, the game won't be able to tell which head model they were carrying, therefore changing it to a generic skin of a head wrapped in a Plastic Bag. The same happens if the player completes a level while carrying a head and doesn't lose all their weapons in the next scene.
