- “I'm coming over there to beat your fucking brains out!”
Hood 1 is a member of the Hoods gang in Manhunt.
Background[]
This hoodlum is a tired, older man[1] who has the following impairments: a worsening backache,[2] an addiction to smoking (something that he wants to cut, so that he can chase better)[3] and a hangover that has not worn off yet, making him nauseous.[4] All of these put him at a disadvantage against Cash, making him a perfect starting victim for Cash to evade and murder with ease.
Personality and Mannerisms[]
- This Hood has the full set of the generic hunter's personality of being a violent thug participating in a bloodsport. Below are all of his generic character traits.
- Having joined the manhunt with the anticipation of killing Cash for sport,[5] this Hood has nothing but malice reserved for the runner.[6][7] He enjoys the cruelty that comes with harming Cash[8] and enjoys it even moreso when gang violence is involved, seeing how he's a street thug who fights dirty.[9][10][11]
- Thus, he gets very excited when he finally catches Cash (or when he thinks he has a definite fix on him[12][13]), before beating him to death.[14] His excitement can be too much and cause him to be anxious.[15] When he isn't alert, he can get startled by various stimuli caused by Cash.[16][17]
- As a thug, he is foul-mouthed and boorish. He disdains cowards and weaklings, so he mocks them.[18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25] He uses sarcasm to mock imbeciles.[26]
- Knowing violence, this Hood has a tolerance for pain. He is likely experienced in street fights, which is noticeable with how the Hoods look ragged and injured.[27]
- If he doesn't get even a crumb of the brutal action that was promised to him in the manhunt, he can get bored[28][29][30] and impatient during idle times.[5][31]
- Since he joined the manhunt to win, he can get frustrated with failure, like losing Cash after a chase[32] and losing a fellow hunter to Cash.[33]
- He can get tired and frustrated with fruitless stuff, like giving up on pointless searches.[34] Dummy leads on Cash's presence are simply ignored by him.[35]
- He keeps himself and the other Hoods alert and vigilant during their late night hunt, further showing that they're taking it seriously and playing for keeps.[36][37]
- To lower Cash's spirit or scare him when he thinks he is safe, the Hood will try to call him out as if he knows where he is[38][39] and snuff out any hope of surviving or escaping that he has, regardless of what effect it may have on his nerves.[40][41]
- He feels confident that he and the Hoods will have a successful hunt and kill Cash,[42][43] but sometimes he has doubts about this.[6]
- It's said that people show their true self in their final moments. This Hood's scared of dying or at least the pain of death that a psycho like Cash can give, as such he will pathetically beg him for a quick and clean death.[22][44] Other stuff he does to save himself includes promising to Cash that he'll be quiet about him in exchange for sparing his life,[45] using this manhunt game that the Hoods and Cash are playing as an excuse for him to not take it seriously,[46] and making him feel guilty and pity by mentioning his family.[47]
- Throughout his voice lines where he isn't excited in emotions, he sounds sad and unenergetic. Maybe it's because he's old and has been through a rough life.
Relationships[]
Family[]
In an attempt to get Cash to spare him, this Hood will mention that he has a family to make him feel guilt or pity.[47] So far, only his wife Lucy is known to be a part of his family, whom he really wants to get home to after he finishes this manhunt.[31] later he complains about his situation, grumbling that his wife is probably having an affair with a man that outperforms him, while he is occupied with the danger of the hunt .[48] He claims his wife is annoying with her constant jabbering,[49] but shuts her up with money.[50]
With the Hoods[]
For some reason, he may shoo other Hoods who trespass into his own territory in the manhunt to kill Cash.[51] This might be one of the in-universe “rules” or mechanics of the Director's manhunt game whereby groups of hunters are assigned to turfs where they can kill their runner in there, but going beyond it to kill Cash outside of their boundaries isn't allowed in the manhunt.
Disputes over territories and kills aside, he's cool and friendly with his other Hoods,[52][53] even watching their backs during the manhunt.[54] He's familiar with someone named Vince, who might be one of his friends in the Hoods gang.[55][56]
With Valiant Video and the manhunt[]
Like the other Hoods, this poor man was talked into participating in the manhunt, presumably by the Director himself. Should he get bored, he will regret this decision.[57]
When the manhunt gets dull and boring, he may sometimes regret joining it,[58] but he also thinks that he'd rather go through this than his wife's jabbering.[49] He does not like the venue[59] and he does not like the time it takes place,[60] even complaining that it gives their runner an unfair advantage.[61] Like the other Hoods, he was also told that this manhunt was just a game, which he uses to convince Cash to not take it seriously by sparing his life.[46]
With Cash[]
Apart from his impersonal disdain and malice for Cash being a coward, this Hood doesn't know anything about him, not even his name or his true role in the manhunt.[62] What he does know is how hard he is to catch, which pisses him off and makes him disdain Cash as a “rat bastard” to him.[38][63]
