- “For GIFTS of an unusual nature: Rubber Fist”
Joseph Daniel "JD" O'Toole is a character in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories, used to tease the forthcoming release of Manhunt 2.
History[]
Background[]
- “I'm an adventurous lover. You know I like... an experimental side, y'know?”
JD O'Toole is a former retailer for Cottonmouth-based Rubber Fist BDSM products in the 1990s, directly advertising products from Cottonmouth's Red Light District suppliers and selling them to consumers in Liberty City via website.[1]
He was the manager and briefly owner of Paulie's Revue Bar in 1998, an Italian Mafia-run strip club and bar in Liberty City's Red Light District.
It is implied that he was arrested for statutory rape at some point in his life, even though the girl he slept with was said to be "legal", and was raped in prison because of that. [2] He was also suspected by the FBI to be downloading "sensitive material" but was never arrested for it, though his hard drive has been searched on at least one occasion. [3]
Relation to Rubber Fist and the Manhunt series[]
- “Please visit these links as they may help keep Paulie's Revue free entry one day. The products on sale in these advertisements are in no way connected to Paulie's world acclaimed Revue so please don't come to us if you have a bad vacation or put something somewhere that gets stuck and has to be sliced off.”
As the webmaster for Paulie's Revue Bar's website, JD commonly advertises adult entertainment products, including sex toys and VHS tapes.
In the website, he recommends the viewers to check Rubber Fist's website for "unusual gifts". The advertisement itself does not redirect to any existing promotional website. Alongside the Rubber Fist ad, JD sells The Ticklin' Table, a BDSM furniture made by Rubber Fist. Heidi Hole VHS is also said to be available for purchase from the website. All of these advertisements are part of a teaser towards Manhunt 2.
JD may also make subtle references to Manhunt 2 and the duology itself in two occasions. During his character introduction, he films Toni Cipriani murdering a group of mobsters before thanking for the "great snuff footage" he provided, and claims it'll be for his own personal use.[4] Afterwards, JD is seen wearing a gimp suit while leaving Paulie's Revue Bar, where he claims to be trying new things.[5]
