Maibatsu Corporation (Japanese: マイバツ) is a Japanese vehicle manufacturer mentioned in Manhunt and Manhunt 2.
The company is also featured in Rockstar North's Grand Theft Auto series.
Description[]
In Grand Theft Auto III, Maibatsu has radio and print advertisements for the Monstrosity, a very large SUV (Monster truck in European version) with extremely bad fuel efficiency. The same vehicle is mentioned in a dialogue by The Hoods in Manhunt. [1][2]
Influence[]
The name "Maibatsu" is a portmanteau of Mitsubishi and Daihatsu, and is also similar in name to "Zaibatsu" (財閥), a Japanese term for a large conglomerate. The pronounciation keeping in the style of Rockstar's crude humor sounds like "My Butts".
Trivia[]
- The company also exists in some different form in the HD Universe of the Grand Theft Auto series.
