Painkillers are the way to regain health in the Manhunt series, usually scattered throughout the levels or in secret places and alternate paths.
Description[]
They are commonly placed throughout the levels, either in corners or just along the way. Painkillers can be found in secret places as well, they restore 50% of the player's health. They are sometimes dropped by enemies when killed.
Manhunt[]
Painkillers are introduced in Born Again, part of the game's tutorial when it is first played. Interestingly, in Press Coverage, the Journalist can actually collect painkillers and recover some of her health, she has lines for when she picks up a bottle. A painkiller and a save point can be found in Time 2 Die, where they cannot normally be reached.
Manhunt 2[]
They are introduced in the first level, Awakening. After fighting with a wacko and learning the basics of the game's combat, Leo tells Danny to seek out some first aid to restore his health. In the supplies office are three painkillers and a syringe.
Expanding on the first game, painkillers can be found in lockers, trunks, etc.
Trivia[]
- In the Steam release of Manhunt, painkillers could crash the game or count as a green class weapon (which would also cause a crash if the player switched weapons or just picked them up). This is due to an anti-piracy method that is present in this version of the game that works even if it is not a pirated version, along with other many problems.
- If picked up, the bottle will appear in Cash's belt.
- In Manhunt 2, if the player received no damage from the Legion, Leo will say: "We need a weapon. Get a syringe from the supplies office." instead.
- When picking up a painkiller in Manhunt, a reused sound from Grand Theft Auto III (when collecting a Hidden Package) will play. The same sound also plays in Manhunt 2. However, in the PS2 and PSP versions, the sound for picking up a bottle is unique.
