The Pickman Bridge is not my work, but the work of Doctors Pickman and Lamb. After a initial failure ??? the Project massive ??? For now, The Project is about managing what has become a disaster...
―A recording of Dr. Laura Whyte found at TV-MK Studios, about the Pickman Bridge malfunction.

The Pickman Bridge was a failed experiment of The Project, created and conducted by head scientist Doctor Pickman in collaboration with Doctor Daniel Lamb.

Description[]

The experiment was conducted by The Project as part of their bioweapon manufacturing program. It consisted of implanting a second personality into an individual's brain, with the intentions of creating a perfect assassin – two minds in one body, unaware of each other. A hypnosis session was required to trigger the implanted personality once the Pickman Bridge is active.

Events of Manhunt 2[]

Experiment[]

Malfunction[]

Daniel Lamb: “Wait, that's not right - Leo and I talk all the time...”
Laura Whyte: “The Bridge malfunctioned early on. We were working to repair the damage when you - or Leo - decided to escape.”
Laura Whyte to the experiment's volunteer Daniel Lamb, explaining why he can interact with his second personality.

Inspiration[]

The Pickman Bridge appears to be inspired by the real-life Project Artichoke, a project developed and enacted by the CIA in 1951, whose primary goal was to determine whether a person could be involuntarily made to perform an act of attempted assassination. Two years later, the project was succeeded by Project MKUltra, which is also predominantly referenced throughout Manhunt 2.

The mind control session during the experiment appears to have been heavily inspired by a similar movie scene from the 1974 film The Parallax View.
