This is Bravo leader, regroup at the tracks!”
“Roger Alpha team, Charlie is en route from the precinct as we speak.
―SWAT teams moving in to trap Cash

Wrong Side of the Tracks is the 16th scene featured in Manhunt.

Plot Summary[]

Threat levels rise for both Cash and the C.C.P.D. as reports of the deaths of heavily armed cops reach their precinct, forcing S.W.A.T. teams to join the manhunt. S.W.A.T. have shut down the power to the rails, so Cash must restore it first (while facing them and the cops) before taking the last train to escape.

Scene[]

Introduction[]

A train stops at the Carcer Line and Station. The camera pans to Cash who goes down the stairs to said station. Through his earpiece, he hears one last transmission from Starkweather who tells him over the static that he'll never leave the subway alive. The rest of his message is no longer understandable under the static before it cuts off. Cash quickly backs away when he sees two cops positioning themselves near the train.

Meanwhile, SWAT leader Charlie arrives at the control room and turns off the power of the third rail before informing police units that the power has been shut down.

Restore Power to the Rails[]

Subway Terminal[]

Knowing that there are two cops armed with revolvers ahead of him, Cash may dispose of them by any means at his disposal. With the cops dealt with, he will find another cop wielding a Sub-Machine Gun positioned in the hallway. This L-shaped hallway is connected to the platform through a door at one end and a small room where Painkillers can be found. The other end has a door that has a rusty lock leading to the train tunnels. Cash deals with the SMG cop and destroys the rusty lock to leave the terminal and get into the dark tunnels.

Before the player may leave, the area contains some items that they may find useful. The utility room contains two garbage bags that have a chance to drop a Bottle. It also has a water dispenser whose tank may be destroyed with any weapon. This has a chance to drop a Glass Shard. The L-shaped hallway has a vending machine that may drop a Can if destroyed by gunfire and another water dispenser that may drop a glass shard if destroyed. The platform has another vending machine, just near the coffee stand, that may drop a can as well. Lastly, there are Handgun Bullets (12) beside the garbage bin near the exit that infinitely replenishes itself until the lock on the door is broken.

Subway Tunnels[]

As Cash moves further into the tunnels, a cutscene will begin to play where SWAT leader Bravo and his team are moving into the tunnels, the former informing police units to regroup at the tracks. Meanwhile, another SWAT team moves into the subway from the stairs Cash went through and gives a 10-4 to Alpha team on the radio before telling them Charlie team is en route to the scene from the precinct. The cutscene ends there, leaving Cash to deal with the two SWAT teams zeroing in on him.

Bravo and his two men are armed with shotguns with lights on them, while the other team has a Heavy Handgun and SMGs. Cash can deal with these two teams by any means possible so that he can proceed to explore the three train tunnels ahead of him to restore the third rail's power.

If Cash goes to the the left tunnel whence Bravo's team came, he will end up at a platform where a Save Point can be activated. There are two garbage bags in this platform that may drop a Bottle. There are two doors near this platform, one shut with a rusty lock and one unlocked. The door to the control room is right behind the one with a lock, while the unlocked one is a bit farther. Both doors lead into a building where a five man SWAT team armed with SMGs, Heavy Handguns, and a Shotgun is patrolling the area. There is a vending machine in the area that can be shot to drop a Can and a water dispenser that can drop a glass shard.

If Cash goes to the center tunnel, he will first find a door to the left that leads to the same building. This door may have a SWAT officer behind it, so be careful. Ahead of this door is yet another door to the left leading to the same building once again, also possibly having a SWAT unit behind it. At the end of the tunnel is a police barricade and a train barrier blocking the way where Cash wants the last train to go to. Beside the barriers is a doorway leading to some sort of utility room. The room has nothing but a bottle of Painkillers and is connected to the right tunnel through another doorway.

If Cash goes to the right tunnel, he will find said doorway to said utility room and another barrier leading to nothing.

Regardless of what tunnel the player will choose, they are destined to deal with the five man SWAT team to get into the control room to restore the third rail's power, triggering a cutscene where the now functioning train will open its doors and prompting the player to get in.

Returning to Station[]

Once Cash restores the power, he will face one last obstacle to the last train. A group of three SWAT officers armed with Shotguns + Light will enter the subway to await Cash. He can either dispose of these cops or simply run past them to catch the train to the next station.

Escape the Subway[]

Floor B2[]

A cutscene plays where the last train stops at the Carcer Point Station while two cops arrive at the platform to meet the train. Cash doesn't disembark at the platform so as to not get shot by these cops wielding a Revolver and Light Handgun, but instead he exits through the back of his train where he enters the metro station through a more subtle entrance. In the hallway ahead of him, a Save Point is just in front of the door leading to the platform where two idle cops await him. There is a bottle of Painkillers at the other end of this hallway.

Cash handles the cops ahead of him by any means at his disposal. If they were killed loudly, another cop will coming running from the stairs to respond to the action. Otherwise, he will not come running down until the player gets near the subway stairs to the next level.

The only object of interest in the train platform is a bottle of Painkillers right next to the toppled vending machine, which casts a shadow for the player to hide in.

Floor B1[]

If the player approaches the stairs to the next level, a shopping cart will come rolling down the stairs and police dispatch can be heard on a radio declaring a Code 1 and informing police units that their fugitive is incoming. If he wasn't alerted and killed from earlier, a cop will come running down the stairs. Ahead of him is another cop with a shotgun taking cover behind a coffee stand near the metro gates. Cash murders or evades this cop with the tools and abilities at his disposal to get behind the gates.

After crossing the one way gate to the left since you the right gates bar entry from that way, Cash finds himself at the vestibule area of the station. Right next to the left gates is a door on a booth where a small shadowed room is located behind. Besides a place to hide, it contains a bottle of Painkillers. The vestibule area has two pillars where the player can take cover from the shotgunner cop ahead of him who is behind a bench. Three cops with Light Handguns will come running here from the stairs ahead.

Once the player deals with this team of cops, two more cops with Light Handguns will also run from said stairs to gun down Cash. There is also a cop with a shotgun behind a hotdog stand at the top of the stairs to Carcer Point Station. Once Cash deals with these cops, he is free to run up the stairs to exit the scene, completing it.

Trivia[]

  • “Wrong Side of the Tracks” is an idiom for a place where the poor dwell in. Apart from taking place in two train stations and its claustrophobic tunnels, it might refer to the SWAT who debuted in this scene thinking that Cash is a mentally ill vagrant. The name of this scene is shared with the infamous mission in GTA San Andreas, Wrong Side of the Tracks. Additionally, it shares its name with the side mission Wong Side of the Tracks in GTA Liberty City Stories.
